Not all victories come with a celebration.
Not all feuds end with the humiliation of the loser.
For not every combatant is a hunter. Not every rival is an enemy.
Some women simply struggle against one another because their lives and fates have deemed it necessary.
Each winding up in the other’s path through no fault of their own.
So when one finally draws a tearful submission from the other, they do so with regret and sadness, neither wanting to have to hurt the other, though the choice was never theirs.
I love this short piece. Sums up some of the best clashes to be had.
Thank you! I think a lot of times we get swept away in the current of wanting a memorable feud and build-up, and forget the tragedy of women finding themselves forced to fight.
It can be just as compelling and passionate.
